JOHN COUCH

John Couch joined the Board of the BASIC Fund in 2013, bringing a deep personal connection to the organization’s mission. Growing up in southeast San Jose, he experienced firsthand how access to quality education can transform a life. Through a series of scholarships, he progressed from a local private school to Bellarmine College Preparatory, then Middlebury College—where he studied Economics, Political Science, and Chinese — and ultimately Harvard Law School.

His professional journey led him to Goldman Sachs in the Bay Area, but his passion remains rooted in expanding educational opportunities. Together with his wife Kelly, he is committed to supporting students from underserved communities. Their family’s philanthropic efforts focus on increasing access to quality education as a path to social mobility. They are proud to support the BASIC Fund – the students, alumni, staff and donor community are all proof of what can be achieved!
